Your Body—God’s Temple
More than a collection of muscles, bones, cells, and organs, your body is a sacred place where the Holy Spirit dwells. When you observe this truth, every choice you make concerning your body can become an act of worship. As you honor your body as God’s temple, you steward the gift He has given you—do it with gratitude and intention.
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV
Consider these three ways to honor the Lord with your body this week.
Prioritize what you consume, both physically and mentally.
What you eat fuels your energy, and what you watch or listen to shapes your thoughts. Choose nourishing foods and wholesome content to align your choices with God’s truth.
Embrace movement as a way to glorify God.
Exercise doesn’t have to be grueling or complicated. Whether you take a walk, stretch, or engage in a favorite activity, moving your body with intention strengthens it for the purposes God has for your life.
Rest intentionally.
Your body needs time to recover and refresh. Just as God rested on the seventh day, know that resting is good. Honoring God with your body includes allowing yourself moments of stillness and renewal. Whether you take a sabbath day, pause for prayer, or go to bed earlier, resting is good, and your worth is not tied to how much you do but to who you are in Christ.
Caring for your body is a privilege and an opportunity to glorify God.
When you make intentional choices, you acknowledge the incredible value God places on you. Caring for yourself becomes a form of worship, honoring the Holy Spirit who lives within you.
Stewarding this gift with joy and intention allows you to glorify Him in every action.
Today’s One Thing
Thank God for the Holy Spirit’s temple given to you, and tell yourself, “I honor God with my body through wise choices, intentional movement, and needed rest. Thank you, Father.”
