McDonald Farm Culturefest – Sale Creek
March 16 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
$5 – $10
If you visited the Farm between 1800-1900 what would you see?
You would see us. Horse drawn carriage rides. Horses, cows and many farm animals. Petting zee. Pony rides. Civil war reenactments on site presenting the history of both sides that actually camped on this property. Many demonstrators. People walking around in attire. Take your pictures with them. Ask them who they are and why? Tour the antebellum home and learn the history of the eight generations of Scottish McDonalds that lived there by actual descendants.
See Native American old style dancing that would have been done when the Native Village on this property was active until the Trail of Tears in 1838. Please participate should you like. There will be Native American musicians performing all day Saturday and on Sunday there will be an Appalachian Mountain band that will be performing for everyone. Visit the property. Take all the pictures your heart desires. We are here to preserve the second largest historic property in the Hamilton County area to Moccasin Bend.
Craft vendors will be available. Information boots will be available (maybe a bird or two of prey) to learn about……
Food trucks and vendors will be available for all.
Sponsored by Native American Services of TN; Hamilton County Parks and Recreation and the McDonald Advisory Committee
