Organ/Piano Recital

January 15 @ 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Have you ever been to a concert where you get to pick what’s on the program? If not, opportunity awaits!
Organist and pianist Dr. Jeremy Peterman will give a free recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, Scottsdale, titled “Impromptu!” because the listeners will select most of the pieces for the concert.
When audience members arrive at the church they will be given a long list of pieces to select from, including everything from Bach and Chopin to Gershwin, Rachmaninoff and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
While Peterman plays a few pieces, the votes will be tallied and Peterman will embark on the audience-chosen program. Peterman will play on La Casa de Cristo’s 91-rank, 5067-pipe Berghaus Organ, which is one of the largest in the Southwest, as well as the church’s seven-foot Steinway grand piano.
A free-will offering will be received to benefit the music ministry at La Casa de Cristo.
Peterman, who earned his doctoral degree from Arizona State University, is an organist, vocalist and collaborative pianist. He is active in the Valley as a performer, recording artist, instructor, and vocal coach.

He also has played for many productions of Arizona Opera and Phoenix Opera, as well as under the baton of Michael Christie (Phoenix Symphony) in Stravinsky’s Petrushka, John Adams’ On the Transmigration of Souls, and Golijov’s Ainadamar.

In 2016, he completed his 13th and final summer at the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria, where he was director of both staff pianists and of church music.

Peterman is the organist/handbell director at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church and he collaborates yearly with Arizona Musicfest and the Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale.

La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church is located at 6300 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale. For more information, call the church, (480) 948-1234.
