The C-130 Hercules in Vietnam, 1971-72

John Hopper, Lt.General, USAF, Retired, presents the origins of the famous C-130 Hercules and how it was used in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, as well as the transition to Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
The concept of tactical aviation will be covered, as well as how tactical resupply missions were planned and conducted. Hopper, the first African-American graduate of the U. S. Air Force Academy to attain flag rank, served as a C-130 aircraft commander in South East Asia in 1971-1972 and C-130 Wing Commander, Thumrait Air Base, Oman, during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
