The Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) of World War II

03/18/2015 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Natalie Stewart-Smith, adjunct faculty ERAU College of Arts and Sciences, presents the unique and fascinating story of the women who flew in WW II as members of the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WASP).
Her thesis on the WASP was the first academic study of this organization.  The study is based on extensive research and numerous personal interviews, including a rare interview with WASP founder Jacqueline Cochran. The military contribution of women fliers during World War I and their aviation activities during the years between WWI and WWII, a seldom heard part of the WASP story, is foundational.
