Veterans Breakfast
Air Force pilot Bob Jeffrey, who spent more than seven years as a POW at the “Hanoi Hilton,” will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 14 Veterans Breakfast sponsored by La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, Scottsdale.
The free breakfast, sponsored by the church’s Veterans Ministry, begins at 8 a.m. at the church, 6300 E. Bell Road. Jeffrey will speak at 9 a.m. The public is invited.
Jeffrey was born in California and joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 21. He was based in the Philippines, flying combat support missions in Vietnam. On a flight to Vietnam his plane was hit and disintegrated in a fireball at low altitude. He ejected and was captured.
After his return to the United States he graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University then was assigned to Williams Air Force Base. Following his retirement, he pursued a career in aviation and now resides in Chandler
