Retired Army Major Arden Rowley will be the guest speaker for the Saturday, Feb. 2, breakfast meeting of the Veterans Ministry at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, Scottsdale.
Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. at the church, 6300 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale. The program begins at 9 a.m. Donations will be accepted for breakfast.
Rowley, who enlisted in the Army in 1948, will speak about his time as a prisoner of war during the Korean War. Along with 329 other military personnel, he was held in five different POW camps for 33 months.
He also will introduce the documentary film “Beyond the Bridge of No Return.”
After his career in the Army, Rowley spent 31 years in Mesa public schools and has published many books on the Korean War and his POW experience.
