Tell us about yourself! Where are you from?
I’ve lived all over the country, but I’m originally from Houston, Texas. Now you’ll know what’s up if a “y’all” or “fixin’ to” slips out.
How did you get started in the radio industry?
I started out in college as a music education major and realized very early that wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. I had no clue what else to do and the boy I had a crush on was a Radio/TV major. So I switched to that. True story.
I spent most of my career in Top 40 radio, but in 2011 God called me to Christian radio, and I’ve been doing that ever since. Joining Kankelfritz and Friends on Family Life Radio is such an exciting career highlight and I’m thrilled to be part of this amazing team!
What do you enjoy most about working in Christian radio?
I love the authenticity and the privilege of sharing my true self with those who listen—the ups, the downs, the victories, and the defeats. As someone who’s struggled with clinical depression the majority of my life, I’ve been amazed with how God has used my ongoing testimony to help me connect to and minister to others. What a privilege to have my mess turned into a message.
What is something God has done in your life? Or something He is showing you now?
God has pulled me out of the depths of despair more times than I can count. Five years ago, He saved me from taking my own life. The turnaround He has provided since that incident is nothing short of a miracle. Even in the mental health setbacks, He remains faithful to use those dark moments as continued proof of His amazing restoration ability and the incredible love He has for me.
What do you like to do for fun?
I’m a huge fan of vegging out in front of the TV with my husband and our six fur babies—two dogs and four cats. I love to read and write and hope to get my MFA in Creative Writing one day. I’m also a huge fanatic of beauty vloggers on YouTube and can spend an embarrassing amount of time watching their videos.
