POSITION SUMMARY: The Stewardship Officer is responsible for portfolio management of major donors and prospects in the Eastern US. This position will execute the identification, research, analysis, and development of stewardship strategies for cultivating relationships that result in major gifts investment of five (5) figures or more and gifts as appropriate to the donor’s stewardship desires to accomplish ministry strategic initiatives. Conducts networking and research to enlarge the pool of potential qualified prospects. Writes project-related proposals and ministry updates to support stewardship and solicitation needs.  Requires excellent administration and organizational skills, proficiencies in all Microsoft Office applications, some travel within the region, and the ability to work some evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Establishes personal contact with donors and potential donors as assigned, assessing capacity, propensity, and peer-to-peer ministry linkages and updating corporate records with information discovered according to established processes and procedures.
  • Successfully manages an active network-wide portfolio of the ministry’s major donors and prospects, executing a stewardship cycle continuum of identification, cultivation, plan development, solicitation, and stewardship, resulting in five—to seven-figure gifts. Develop action steps to grow affinity to the point of investment.
  • Represents the ministry well with integrity and develops professional relationships to link donors and prospects with the Vision of the ministries of Intentional Life Media.
  • Develops individual, corporate, and foundation networks beyond the existing major gift donor and prospect base by conducting individual, corporate, and foundation donor or prospect interviews, meetings, and presentations as strategically approved.
  • Identify major gift recognition and appreciation gifts and report for assigned donors and prospects. Administer appropriate system which includes: recognition calls, custom notes, follow-up letters for all meetings to thank them for their time and passion for what God is doing through the ministry.
  • Provides timely reports on all major gift stewardship meetings, notes, and call outcomes, dates, and purposes. It also assesses and executes the next stewardship advancement action to serve the donors’ stewardship investment cycle needs.
  • Identifies and refers appropriate contacts for planned giving services or upcoming seminar invitations based on donors’ expressed needs.
  • Document all donor interaction in Salesforce, noting important information pertaining to engagement strategy on a timely basis.
  • Create all strategic proposals to solicit gifts to support strategic initiatives and write all thank you letters to donors.
  • Track and administer all matching gits to leverage and support Sharathons, social, print, and digital appeals fundraising efforts.
  • Provides support and training as needed for other major gift officers.
  • Oversee the coordination for local major gift event logistics, invitation mailings, reminders, etc., as needed and assigned.
  • Develops and maintains a proactive automated system to manage special major gifts recognition opportunities (e.g., birthdays, key anniversaries, family members’ deaths, holiday greetings, etc.).
  • Support Sharathon drive as assigned.
  • Participate in Team and One on One Meetings.
  • Participate in all staff functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION &  EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s in Business, Ministry, Fundraising, Communications, or another related field or equivalent education and experience
  • Five (5) years of fundraising, donor relations experience personally securing major gifts
  • Proven expertise in major individual gift fundraising and knowledge of development “best practices.”

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:   

  • Solid relationship-building skills and integrity and a track record of ability to develop and maintain relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and cultures; includes ability to professionally interact with CEOs, Boards, business owners/leaders, and high net worth individuals and to understand the needs and interests of major donors to develop relationships between them and the ministry.
  • Proven critical thinking ability and discernment skills of donor/prospect needs and development of moves management steps for alignment with stewardship opportunities
  • Broad knowledge of the stewardship cycle (identification, research, introduction, assessment, stewardship, solicitation, reporting outcome of investments, and planned giving options)
  • Proven drive & ability to perform the “Ask.”
  • Ability and propensity to pray with and for our donors
  • Professional comportment and ability to effectively represent FLC with integrity requires maturity, poise, professionalism, social skills, discernment, and professional appearance
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize & perform multiple projects of complex work in a fast-paced work environment where only general policies or procedures are available
  • Demonstrated high-level organizational and event facilitation skills
  • General knowledge of the benefits of planned giving as an integral part of charitable giving, personal assets, and gift options
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to manage multi-functional or diverse areas successfully
  • Proven, focused, & self-motivated starter; able to work independently
  • Excellent communication & passionate presentation, writing & research skills
  • Excellent administration, reporting, research analytical, and time management skills
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Ability to compose notes following donor/prospect meetings that accurately reflect/recap response(s)
