Facilities Manager

Position Title: Facilities Manager 

Department: Operations 

FLSA Status: Exempt (full-time) 

Hiring Range:  $60,000 to $ 70,000 (DOE) 

Location: Tucson, AZ 

SUMMARY:  The Facilities Manager is Responsible for the facilities management and security of all FLC properties including company vehicles.  Performs all duties personally or through the use of contracted services.  Acts as project manager for assigned capital improvement & other facility management projects.  Also acts as corporate Safety Officer and manager of FLC’s Disaster Management Recovery Plan.


  • Responsible for day-to-day coordination of building related issues; assures optimal functioning and oversees maintenance of all FLC properties; includes developing & managing a preventative maintenance program for all facilities and equipment
  • Manages, coordinates, complies with, and interprets safety and security matters including OSHA issues and emergency preparedness; serves as FLC’s Safety Officer and assuming management and control of the FLC Disaster Management and Recovery Program; trains staff as needed in coordination with HR Director
  • Routinely inspects all FLC properties and equipment to ensure their cleanliness, security, good working order and compliance with all OSHA standards; ensures optimum functioning of all building systems including but not limited to HVAC, fire safety equipment, elevators, generators, etc.
  • Researches, plans, and coordinates capital improvement projects
  • Negotiates and approves facility-related vendor contracts; responsible for maintaining and updating contracts as necessary; ensures all corporate insurance requirements are met for vendors/contractors performing services at all corporate facility & property locations
  • Responds to after-hours, facilities-related emergencies and determines appropriate course of action to resolve issues
  • Reacts and adjusts quickly to changing conditions; comes up with timely, practical and cost-effective solutions for dealing with issues while collaborating with other departments
  • Manages the activities of temporary workers and independent contractors engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of all structures, building, grounds, corporate personal property and equipment
  • Purchases and maintains furniture
  • Maintains employee key card entry system in coordination with IT


  • Manages strategic objectives relating to department functions utilizing MS Project
  • Prepares, administers and oversees departmental budget
  • Acts as liaison to office tenants of FLC owned facilities
  • Actively participates on cross-functional work teams to accomplish project scopes on time and within budget


  • Knowledge of and capability to manage all professional services and trades relating to construction, fabrication, maintenance and operation of structures, property and equipment with working knowledge in the maintenance and operations of boilers, HVAC equipment, electrical power distribution, power generation, emergency electrical systems, and auxiliary machinery
  • Strong project & construction management skills with ability to effectively handle multiple duties and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to read & interpret blueprints, schematic drawings and specifications
  • Ability to identify and relate clearly and effectively with and to key project stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of various codes and applicable laws related to facilities management and construction including state & local accessibility laws
  • Ability to operate power tools and operate machinery
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven knowledge and ability to effectively utilize MS Word, Excel and Project software programs


  • Valid AZ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel in- and out-of-state as needed (approximately 15% of the time)
  • Ability to work extended hours (weekends or evenings occasionally or as needed)
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions, traverse varied terrain and lift and lift materials up to 50 pounds


  • Five (5) years directly related experience in the facilities management field that includes experience overseeing the work of temporary workers, vendors and/or contractors
  • General contractor’s experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects and completing jobs on schedule and within budget
