Mike Weaver Shares the Powerful Moment

His Son Led Two Strangers to Jesus

“Seeing my son have a heart for Jesus is incredible,” Mike Weaver smiled as he spoke to us about his son, Eli, who doesn’t just believe in Jesus—he actively shares his faith with others.

Big Daddy Weave’s lead singer, Mike Weaver, shared one of his greatest joys—not just making music for the Lord, but seeing his son, Eli, develop a deep passion for sharing the gospel.

“Eli is 17, so he’s the oldest of our three that we have. He’s an evangelist, man. He just has a heart for people.”

But, as Mike laughingly admitted, Eli is still learning how to approach people with his message. “He’s like, ‘Daddy, sometimes they don’t want to talk to me.’ So I’m like, ‘Well, how close were you when you announced yourself? We don’t want them to think you’re going to mug them or something!’”

Even with his enthusiasm, Eli’s sincerity and passion for Jesus have led to powerful moments—times that remind Mike of just how real and active God is.

From a Simple Game to a Divine Appointment

One of those moments happened at a church outreach. Eli and his friends were playing cornhole, just connecting with people, when Eli did what he does best—turning a casual conversation into a deep discussion about faith.

“Hey, those are really cool Nike shoes… Have you ever thought about what happens when you die?”

The young man he was talking to admitted he hadn’t. So Eli asked another question. “How do you know if you’ll go to heaven?”

“What if I could tell you that you could know beyond the shadow of a doubt that if you died today, you would be in heaven forever?

The response? A hesitant, “I don’t know.”

With boldness and love, Eli shared, “What if I could tell you that you could know beyond the shadow of a doubt that if you died today, you would be in heaven forever? Jesus made that possible.”

Right then and there, the young man accepted Christ. Moments later, he ran off and returned with his younger brother, who also gave his life to Jesus.

And then, the moment that left Mike in awe—a door swung open from one of the homes, and an elderly woman came running out, tears streaming down her face. “I have been praying for these boys!” she cried.

Answered Prayers

She had no idea that on this day, during this outreach, the prayers she had been lifting up for her grandsons would be answered.

The story didn’t end there. That Sunday, those two brothers stepped into the baptismal tank at church, making a public declaration of their new faith in Christ.

For Mike, seeing his son on fire for Jesus is more meaningful than any stage or spotlight. “He burns in his heart for people to know the Lord. And you can pray for that to happen in your children. You know, you can’t make that happen, you know, and I’m so grateful for that happening in him.”

But what touches Mike the most is how each of these moments deepens Eli’s own walk with God.

“Every time Eli sees the Lord move, his faith grows.”

And it’s not just Eli. Mike sees the same faith developing in his other children, Zeke and Naomi. He loves his ministry with Big Daddy Weave, but his greatest joy is seeing his kids grow in their own faith. “My favorite thing is playing music with my kids.”

Praying for the Next Generation

As a father, Mike understands that you can’t force faith on your children—you can only pray and trust that God will work in their hearts. God is still answering prayers, still drawing hearts, and still using His people—whether in a packed concert venue or a simple game of cornhole.

Mike encourages us to keep praying for the next generation. Pray that they would fall in love with Jesus, be unashamed to share the gospel, and experience the joy of leading others to Him.

Because every time they see God move, their faith grows.
