No Need to Fear with Josh Baldwin

God’s love provides confidence when you know Him

In the last few years, fear has really ramped up in our world. The enemy is using anxiety and panic to fuel fear in people’s hearts. Messages that remind us of who we are in Christ are more important than ever. It provides the faith and power to stand against fear.

“We are His sons and daughters,” Josh Baldwin said, “Because of our love for God, there’s a confidence that comes in knowing who you are in Jesus.”

Scripture gives powerful instruction and encouragement:

“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love” (1 John 4:16-18 ESV).

We all have times when we are tempted to give into fear. Josh admits, “I don’t even know how to explain it all the time but knowing who I am in Jesus gets me through so much overthinking.”

Josh’s motivation to be a good Christ follower comes out of his desire to please God.

Having a heart to please the Father is so much better than trying to follow a bunch of rules, living with a fear of getting something wrong and receiving a punishment. “I don’t feel like the fruit that comes out of that is never really the best fruit,” Josh said.

“But when it’s done out of love and respect, in an honorable way, then it’s right.” Josh continued, “I know with my kids, I would rather them listen to me and obey because they love and respect me and their mother.”

“The Lord is constantly encouraging me, saying ‘Just trust me.’ And I always go back to remind myself of all that He’s done for me.”

When you take time to examine the evidence of His goodness all over your life, it builds your faith. You can trust that He’ll be there. He’ll be faithful to you.

Josh shared things that haven’t always happened when he wanted them to occur, but as he looks back, he said, “The Lord is on time. It’s just not always when you think it should be. He’s not always prompt, but He’s on time.”

The Lord reminds us to settle in and trust Him in in those daily times with Him.

For example, “My relationship with my wife is strong because I’m with her daily. I talk to her every day. We have a relationship and I trust her. And that’s like the thing,” Josh shares, “I’m always learning more and more with the Lord.
