We have an integrated family in that 18 years ago our daughter married a black man. This has been a good marriage and our family loves one another, however the current national situation has caused divide and our 24 year old granddaughter (from our son in law's previous marriage) and our daughter's whole family feels that we are not outspoken enough about "systemic prejudice" and our lack of strong voice makes us complicit and therefore, emotionally "unsafe". I have tried to engage, listen, express compassion and concern, but nothing is enough. I am tired and sad and hurting. BTW - they are not believers in Christ.
