My boyfriend is a long-term alcoholic. He detoxes every couple of weeks but then he relapses. He has been severely verbally abusive. He is so great when he's sober that we've been talking about marriage, but I told him that he would have to stay sober before that would happen. Monday he wanted to go to the hospital because he was suicidal. He changed his mind and became verbally and physically abusive. He is currently in jail. It's not so much that I'm afraid of him when he gets out, but I worry that this is going to be a huge setback for him as he has been trying to get his license back. I love him very much but I need strength from God to walk away from this relationship. And he needs the grace of God to help him overcome his addiction.
