FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Exclusive Concert Experience with Christian Recording Artists
TUCSON, AZ (September 12, 2023) — Several Family Life Radio (FLR) listeners were treated to a special backyard concert experience in Nashville. They won their trip as part of FLR’s fifth annual Summer Backyard Concert contest.
The day started with MercyMe giving the contest winners a personal tour of their cabin followed by a pizza party with Patrick Mayberry. The evening rounded out a private, acoustic concert with Christian recording artists Hope Darst, Austin French, Colton Dixon, Jordan St. Cyr and Cody Carnes.
“It’s incredible to provide an opportunity for our listeners to connect with the artists behind their favorite songs that bring them hope through the highs and lows of life,” said Mike Kankelfritz, Chief Broadcast Engagement Officer for FLR.
In years past, the Summer Backyard Concert contest winners have had private concerts in their backyards and even through zoom during the pandemic. “With the collaboration of the artists and their labels, FLR was able to deliver an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, intimate occasion for our listeners,” said Brian Neuwirth, National Events and Promotions Director.
FLR worked with Fair Trade Services, BEC Recordings, Capitol-CMG and Centricity Music who helped make the contest and event experience a success.

Press Release: September 5, 2023 – Family Life Radio Listeners Voice Appreciation for Teachers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TUCSON, AZ (September 5, 2023) — Family Life Radio (FLR) listeners called in from all over the country with their nominations for teachers who have made a difference not only in the lives of their children, but also in their families. This was all part of FLR’s Love Your Teacher, Love Your Schools contest that ran during the month of August.
Listeners shared how the teachers they knew use their own money to purchase clothing, sporting equipment, classroom supplies and more for their students. Tamera was nominated for paying for and putting together sack lunches for the kids at her school who wouldn’t otherwise receive lunch. She made such an impact, word caught on and the community now donates for her to purchase the items needed.
“We heard from so many listeners who have been forever impacted by the educators at their schools. These teachers are going above and beyond to help students and their families,” said Mike Kankelfritz, Chief Broadcast Engagement Officer for Family Life Radio. Christine was nominated because she was there for a listener’s family after the death of their son, whom she had previously taught, “She was there when we lost our son and continues to stay in touch and pray for our family.”
Educators were also nominated for their unique approach to teaching. Georgeanna shared how exceptional education teacher, Taylor, is creative with her students. “She is always coming up with fun ways to teach things like with tents around the room to make fun reading spots,” and ways for her son to still be able to learn even when overwhelmed with life and school.
While the contest may be over, FLR is encouraging listeners to pray for their schools. They’ve partnered with Moms in Prayer International and have valuable content, resources and community contacts for listeners at myflr.org to help make a powerful impact in their communities by uniting with others in prayer.

Press Release: August 22, 2023 – Family Life Radio Celebrates 40 Years in Albuquerque
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Family Life Radio Celebrates 40 Years in Albuquerque
On 91.5 FM KFLQ
TUCSON, AZ (August 22, 2023) — Family Life Radio (FLR) recently celebrated 40 years of radio ministry in Albuquerque. FLR staff, volunteers and donors gathered to commemorate the anniversary of 91.5 FM KFLQ. The event also featured Christian music artist Tasha Layton who performed listener favorites like Look What You’ve Done and Into the Sea (It’s Gonna Be Ok).
FLR widened their footprint when they expanded to New Mexico in 1983, starting up a brand-new station, KFLQ. This was their sixth station, adding to the two in Arizona and three in Michigan.
Since then, FLR has connected with listeners in the Albuquerque community in many ways, including annual baby showers, collecting thousands of items benefiting local pregnancy centers; through toy drives, helping to provide hope to children at Christmas as well as back to school supplies drives and more.
Peter Brooks, who worked for FLR for 44 years and retired in 2021, was KFLQ’s first general manager. He said the station experienced a flood of calls within the first few hours of broadcasting with listeners sharing their excitement. “The feeling in the studio was absolute joy and thankfulness for what God had done and what we believed He would do in the years ahead through KLFQ,” said Brooks.
“What began 40 years ago in Albuquerque laid the foundation for Family Life Radio to be able to stand strong and continue spreading the message of hope in Christ,” said Evan Carlson, President and Chief Executive Officer of FLR.
FLR was founded 57 years ago in Michigan by Warren Bolthouse, who broadcasted 12 hours a day from his basement studio. Today, the network has 36 signals in 11 states, reaching over 17 million people.

Press Release: May 25, 2023 – Family Life Radio Listeners Help 1,037 Children in Haiti
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Family Life Radio Listeners Help 1,037 Children in Haiti
As part of a Compassion International Fundraiser
TUCSON, AZ (May 25, 2023) — One in six children across the globe live in extreme poverty and are without access to food and health care. Thanks to the listeners at Family Life Radio (FLR), over 1,000 children will now be supported as part of pledges made during a recent Compassion International sponsorship fundraiser. That’s an increase of almost 200 children over last year’s sponsorship campaign.
Access to safe water, food, education and medical care are just some of the many benefits a child who is being sponsored will receive. During the three-day fundraiser, listeners called in to help change the lives of children who are living in poverty in Haiti – one of the poorest countries in the world. Skyrocketing inflation and violence have left families living in this area with no access to food, clean water, shelter and more.
“We are overwhelmed at how the Family Life Radio audience stepped up to help the over 80,000 children on Compassion’s waiting list who have been in need of hope,” said Mike Kankelfritz, director of programming and morning show host at FLR.
“I’ve been doing this a long time, and it’s always amazing to see how God uses our friends at Family Life Radio to change the lives of precious children around the world. What an honor to be a part of the miracle of hope!” said Dave Kirby, Chief Creative Officer at Vidare Creative.
The team at Vidare Creative joined with the FLR on air hosts to run the fundraiser.

Hosted by Family Life Radio’s Intentional Living Ministry
TUCSON, AZ (April 26, 2023) — Over 1,000 attended the Intentional Love Marriage Date Nights with Dr. Randy Carlson. Couples learned how the power of one thing in their marriage will bring change, agreement and closeness.
Two separate events were held in Michigan, one in Jackson and another in Mount Pleasant. They were hosted by Intentional Living (IL), a flagship program of Family Life Radio (FLR). IL has been hosting marriage conferences for over 10 years across the country. “It’s an honor to share with couples, from newlyweds to those who have been married for decades, the keys to how intentional love can bring real hope into a marriage,” said Dr. Randy Carlson.
Attendees shared what they learned at the event including Ben, “When I heard Dr. Carlson speak about marriage and the tools to use to rescue your marriage, I was sold and knew that this was a gift from God.” At the conclusion of the conference, couples commit to taking the “One-Thing” challenge for their marriages, vowing to work on one thing for 30 days (taking the time to listen, patience, etc.).
