The Heart of a Good Neighbor

Evan Craft’s Musical Mission

Evan Craft, a well-known name in the Christian music scene, has touched many lives with his heartfelt songs in both English and Spanish. Evan talked to us about his journey into music, the inspiration behind some of his most popular songs, and his mission-driven projects that align with his faith.

Growing up  in a house full of music, it seemed Evan was always on this path. His first inspirations—his father, a pastor, who led worship in their church, and his mother, a piano teacher—cultivated an environment almost sure to grow an early love for music.

Evan faced turbulence as a child when his parents separated. “My parents split when I was seven, and music was like my therapy,” he shared. He learned to play the guitar and immersed himself in worship songs, finding a therapeutic outlet in music that would eventually lead him to songwriting.

“Be Alright”

Talking about “Be Alright” the song he would suggest for someone to hear if they’re not familiar with his music, he said, “There’s a reason why it’s the most successful song. Because there’s just a special grace on it.”

Originally penned in Spanish for his fans in Latin American audiences, the song took on new life in English during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time of global uncertainty and personal hardship for many, including his own family. “I wrote it in English for my brother. [He] lost his job and moved in with me. I think the lyrics are really authentic. It really felt like the Holy Spirit was giving me those words,” Evan explained.

The song’s success, he believes, lies in its authenticity and the universal message of hope and reassurance it delivers.

Good Neighbor

Evan also talked about his album “Good Neighbor,” touching the heart with themes of love and compassion. The album’s title track, also named “Good Neighbor,” focuses on the biblical principle of loving one’s neighbor as oneself. “I can’t read the Bible and not love somebody who looks different than me, talks different than me, or thinks different than me,” he shared passionately.

You are invited to be a good neighbor in a world that desperately needs love and unity.

Evan’s music encourages listeners to embrace those who are different from themselves, reflecting the inclusive love that Jesus taught. The album is a call to action, challenging us to share the love of God.

Beyond the Music

Beyond his music, Evan is deeply involved in philanthropic efforts, including raising over $250,000 for a homeless mission in Los Angeles. Mi Casa provides support and resources to those in need. “My music has been marked with opportunities to represent Jesus in very tangible ways,” he shared. He often links his artistic endeavors with his charitable actions.

As you listen to Evan’s music and reflect on his message, consider ask God how you can apply these principles in your own life. Whether it’s through small acts of kindness, embracing those different from yourself, or supporting charitable causes, there’s always a way to live with God’s love and compassion.
