What Does God’s Love Look Like?
From a father’s view with Stephen Stanley
Becoming a parent often changes the way we see the world, but for Christian singer-songwriter Stephen Stanley, it also transformed his understanding of God’s love. Stephen talked with us about the moment he felt most connected to God: the birth of his daughter. His words reflect the depth of his faith and the impact that this life-changing event had on his music, faith, and relationship with God.
When asked about a time when he felt extremely close to God, Stephen Stanley didn’t hesitate: “Oh, dude, I had a baby…and she’s amazing! When I first held her, the way I love this baby is the way God loves me. It’s powerful.” For Stephen, the overwhelming love he felt for his daughter opened his eyes to the love God has for each of His children.
It’s something that has shaped his outlook on life. As a father, Stephen now sees love as a daily practice of care, devotion, and sacrifice. He describes how seeing his daughter every morning brings him closer to God, as it reminds him of the Father’s love.

Throughout his life, Stephen has felt a pull toward using his talents to point people to Jesus. He grew up listening to classic rock with his dad but found his true voice in Christian music.
Faith Reflected in His Music
Stanley’s songs are infused with the same deep faith that he talks about in his interview. Tracks like No Hopeless Soul have resonated with Christian audiences around the world, offering messages of hope and redemption. Each song is a reminder of God’s grace, with themes that speak to those who may feel lost, broken, or hopeless.
For those who are walking their own faith journey, Stephen’s story offers both encouragement and a challenge. Whether you are a parent or not, there are moments in life where God reveals Himself in ways that are deeply personal. These are the moments where the head knowledge of God’s love becomes heart knowledge—where faith becomes lived experience.
Stephen’s story invites us to look at the everyday moments—whether it’s seeing your child smile, being with loved ones, or even going through trials—and recognize God’s presence in them. These are the spaces where God’s love becomes tangible, where we can sense His closeness in a new way.
How Can We Experience God’s Love?
God’s love is personal and relentless, and we often see it most clearly through our relationships with others. Lean into those moments when God shows up in the simplest of ways, whether through a child’s laughter or a peaceful morning. Allow them to be reminders that God is near, and His love is constant.
God can use any situation to draw us closer to Him.
For Stephen, becoming a father was a major turning point in how he saw his relationship with God. For others, it might be a different experience, but the truth remains: God is always ready to show us how deeply He loves us.
Seeing God in New Ways
Look for ways for God’s love to become real in your life. Open your heart to glimpse the immense love that God has for you—a love that is unbreakable, patient, and always present. God’s love is not something we have to earn or strive for—it’s there for us to experience, and sometimes, it’s as close as the person next to us.
