When Peace Feels Out of Reach
Leanna Crawford and her song, “Still Waters”
When fear felt louder than faith, and anxiety clouded her every day, Leanna Crawford found herself in desperate need of peace. That season—marked by quiet tears, sleepless nights, and an unexpected breakthrough—became the heart of her deeply personal song “Still Waters.”

What if the path to peace starts with surrender?
“I didn’t even realize how bad it had gotten. I just knew I wasn’t myself anymore.” Leanna shared with us.
On the outside, Leanna looked okay. But inside, everything was unraveling, stuck in a fog of depression and anxiety. “I wasn’t sleeping. I couldn’t write. I felt like a terrible songwriter. And I didn’t want to admit I needed help.”
When You Can’t Hold It Together Anymore
It took the quiet persistence of her sister—and the gentle nudge of God—to get Leanna to take that first vulnerable step. She finally reached out to a counselor through a free program for artists in Nashville. “I didn’t want to go,” she admitted. “But when I finally walked into that room, I mostly cried. It was hard, but it changed everything.”
“My counselor kept pointing me back to Jesus. It didn’t happen overnight, but it helped me breathe again.”
The Words She Held Onto
Psalm 23 became an anchor for Leanna in the middle of that healing journey. She clung to it. Repeated it. Believed it—even when her emotions didn’t. Then, the lyrics to “Still Waters” rose to the surface of her heart.
“Anxiety hates Psalm 23.”
“So just say it to yourself until you believe it.”
The song is both a declaration and a lifeline: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He leads me by still waters, ‘til my fears are gone.”
A Song That Speaks Life
For anyone walking through a dark place—whether quietly or visibly—“Still Waters” offers more than comfort. It offers truth that God sees, God leads, and God restores.
“If He cares about the fireflies, how much more does He care about the details of my life?” Leanna asked.
Through counseling, community, scripture, and songwriting, Leanna found her way back to peace. And now, she’s using her voice to help others find it too.
His peace is not our of reach.
If You’re in a Storm Right Now…
If you feel overwhelmed, unseen, or afraid—“Still Waters” is for you. It’s for the late nights, the quiet breakdowns, the moments you don’t want to talk about.
Let this song remind you:
- You are not alone.
- You are not too broken.
- And peace isn’t out of reach.
God is still leading.
Still loving.
Still restoring.
