Family Life Radio Detroit Update

 

I wanted to personally reach out to you and share some important updates about our radio ministry in the Detroit area. We have been praying and seeking God’s guidance on a difficult decision regarding our radio operations in the area, and as a valuable partner of our ministry we wanted to make certain you’re kept current. Here is the background.

As you may know, our ministry started as a single AM (AM1030) station in the Detroit metro area. As AM listening has declined dramatically over the past few decades, we’ve worked diligently to try and maintain, and even grow listenership by building multiple smaller FM translator signals in and around the city. To date, this has been our only way of providing FM service to Detroit. Unfortunately, these smaller FM signals have not stemmed the tide like we had hoped, and now maintaining five different signals in Detroit is adding an increased financial burden on the ministry.

One large FM that would completely cover all the Detroit metro area has been the dream, but it’s simply remained out of reach financially due to availability. We continue to hold fast to our goal to be good stewards of the resources God entrusts to us and to provide a high-quality experience for our listeners. The current model of operating with five different radio signals in the Detroit metro area is not sustainable for our ministry. This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, but we’ve decided that we must sell our radio signals in the Detroit metro area and we will be closing on the sale of WUFL in the coming days.

Again, please know this decision did not come easily, and truly it is our prayer that at some point down the road we will be able to come back to Detroit in a better position.

Remember, our prayer is for one large FM signal to cover all of Detroit.
