When You Have Nothing Left to Give

God Still Moves with Mike Weaver

Mike Weaver of Big Daddy Weave shares how there are nights on tour when he doesn’t feel like he has much to give. And yet, in those moments, he’s reminded that God doesn’t ask for perfection—He simply asks for what we have.

We all have moments when we feel like we don’t have enough—enough strength, enough faith, enough resources. We come to the end of ourselves and wonder, “How can anything good come from this?”

“Some nights, you know, you just have to show up and whatever you got, that’s what we give, you know, it’s the loaves and fish, man. You know, it’s like we’re not in control of the outcome. But somehow God even takes the brokenness, you know? And He does this miracle.”

The story of the loaves and fish Mike references is from John 6:1-14, where Jesus fed over five thousand people with just a small boy’s lunch. The disciples saw lack, but Jesus saw an opportunity. He took what was given—however small—and multiplied it beyond imagination.

That’s how God works in our lives, too. We may not feel like we have much to offer—whether it’s our time, energy, or faith—but God isn’t asking for perfection. He’s simply asking for us to bring what we have and trust Him with the outcome.

“It’s not enough to do anything. But in Him, you know, He can turn it into transformation. He can turn it into a deep sense of connection…feeling like somebody understands, and they feel like they’re not alone in whatever it is that they’re going through. Man! How God can use that!”

When we place even our smallest efforts in His hands, He does what only He can do.

God Works Through Brokenness

Sometimes, we assume God can only use us when we’re at our best. But in reality, He often does His greatest work when we feel the weakest.

Mike continues, “I mean, that’s why He’s God. He’s the only one who can do that. That’s a miracle. You know, otherwise, it’s just what it is. It’s not enough. It’s just brokenness. But in His hands, you know, that’s it.”

Our struggles, our pain, our moments of emptiness—these are the very things God can use to encourage others. When we share our real, raw stories, we remind people they’re not alone. And in that, God works miracles—not just in us, but through us.

Resurrection Always Follows Death

“You don’t get to see resurrection unless you face death first, you know? So we never would have had, you know, Resurrection Sunday without the death of Good Friday.”

This is the heart of the gospel. Before there was an empty tomb, there was a cross. Before victory, there was suffering. But how often do we stop at Good Friday? How often do we believe the enemy’s lie that our hardest moments are the final chapter?

God has the final word.

“I feel like the enemy is always trying to explain our tragedies to us, you know? He wants to say like the end of your story is this low part. That’s the end. The low point in your story. The worst day of your life is the end. And it’s not.” Mike reminds us, “The enemy’s a liar, you know?”

Satan wants us to believe that our failures, disappointments, and losses define us. That the pain we experience is all there is. But God sees the bigger picture.

  • He is the God of redemption.
  • He is the God of resurrection.

And when we surrender our brokenness to Him, He does the impossible—He brings life from what seemed dead.

God’s Not Done Yet

Mike shared, “Because God loves to take the impossible situation and bring life out of what was there, you know? And I feel like we’re slowly but surely experiencing that in our culture as Big Daddy Weave.”

Maybe today, you feel like you don’t have much to give. Maybe you’re carrying brokenness that seems too heavy to bear. Take heart. Your story isn’t over.

God isn’t asking you for perfection—He’s asking you to trust Him with what you have.

So keep showing up. Keep offering your loaves and fish, no matter how small they seem. Because in His hands, your “not enough” will always be more than enough.
