Anticipate God’s Promises

“She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.”

─ Luke 2:36-38

Anna’s story, told in Luke 2:36-38, is filled with hope, inspiration and tremendous wisdom for us today. She chose to live each day at the temple, dedicated to the pursuit of God. You can just imagine she spent much of her time talking with God and caring for those who came to the temple for spiritual guidance and prayer.

As a prophetess, she spoke for God and declared His truth. We aren’t privy to exactly what she said that day when Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple, but she immediately recognized him as the promised one, the Messiah.

Anna lived each day in faithful anticipation of God’s promise. She never gave up hope for God to make good on his promise to send a deliverer. The Holy Spirit revealed to Anna, exactly who Jesus was. Her time and dedication to worshipping and serving God was rewarded.

What promises from God are you anticipating? Anna remained ready to receive revelation and share God’s truth with others because of her time spent in worship and service to God.
