Christmas Thoughts about God’s Love

People share with others what they are doing for Christmas. Some have grand plans of family gatherings, gift exchanges and time off from work. As God’s child, be encouraged to think about God’s love for you. It’s the reason God sent His Son.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
─ John 3:16 ESV

Don’t glaze over today’s scripture if you find it extremely familiar. It’s the answer to the question of why God would do what He did. It was His love for you that caused Him to sacrifice everything.

God’s love for you, made a way for restoration.

God’s love for you brings the gospel into focus. This verse sets the foundation for extravagant love. When you love someone dearly, you’re willing to give to the point that it costs you something. God’s love for you cost Him separation from His Son at the point of His death. It cost Him pain as He watched Jesus suffer in every way.

He endured it all so that He could have relationship with you! God’s love for you made a way for restoration. He desired to have you with Him today and throughout eternity.

Today’s One Thing
This Christmas, think about God’s love. Where would you be without it? Give God thanksgiving and praise this week for His love for you!
