Prayerful Meditation
The word meditate is found in the Bible 17 times using the ESV translation. When using the search phrase, “What the Bible says about meditation,” you will discover over 100 references within your favorite search engine. Meditation is essential in strengthening your spiritual relationship with the Lord.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then, you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Christian meditation is focused on Scripture and allows you to peacefully quiet your mind so you may give your attention to the Lord and His greatness. Meditation on His Word allows you to extinguish, or at least slow down, any chaos disrupting your mindset as you turn your thoughts to Him. It allows you to build your relationship with the Lord and become more sensitive to hearing the Holy Spirit speak to you about daily life, routines and big decisions.
The Lord created a pathway for your healthy relationship with Him. He desires to lead, protect and bless you.
God wants time with you where the moments are undisturbed between you and Him. The location can be anywhere you can spend alone time with the Lord – in your house, in a special peaceful nook or your favorite outside location. The location doesn’t matter; it’s the non-disruptive area where you can praise the Lord, focus on His Word and pray.
If meditation is new to you, then begin by acknowledging His greatness, confessing and asking the Lord to forgive you of all your sins, and asking Him to help you hear His guidance through the Holy Spirit. Offer praises and thankfulness to Him as you bring a passage of Scripture to your time with Him. The moment may initially be short, but as your relationship strengthens, the Spirit will guide you on the length of time.
