Ellie Holcomb – When You’re Falling Apart

Christian music singer-songwriter, Ellie Holcomb and her friend Ben Glover wanted to write a song for their daughters. Quickly into writing the song, Ellie recognized she needed the song just as much, if not more than her daughter needed it.

“I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’”

─ Isaiah 41:13 MSG

Ellie said, “While we were writing this song, ‘I Will Carry You, we stumbled to across Isaiah 41:13 where God says, ‘I, your God have a firm grip on you, and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’”

In the past couple years, we’ve all come through so many things that we that we all carry – hopes, dreams, fears, grief, sorrow and concerns for the people that we love.

You are carried in the arms of the one who holds all things together.

A day before Ellie was scheduled to do the music video for the song, she got one of those calls no one is ever ready for. She received the horrible news that as her pastor drove his daughter to college, they were in a horrible car wreck and they both died. Ellie shared, “The grief in the wake of that was so massive. I didn’t know how I was going to make it through doing a music video.”

But then as she went through with is she said, “I honestly felt like God planned that day. Just to remind me, that even when your heart is breaking, even when you are grieving, He is right there by your side. He is a man of sorrows, very acquainted with grief.”

When you’re falling apart, you can freely fall apart in His arms. You are carried in the arms of the one who holds all things together.

God can carry you through the depths of your deepest sorrow. If you are walking through a season of loss, whether that’s personal or for people in your community, God says, “Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.” He is not letting go of you.

Today’s One Thing

Imagine yourself as a small child, tired from a long journey, reaching up to your Heavenly Father for Him to hold you. Allow Him to take you into His arms and carry you through whatever is weighing heavily on you today.
