Get Tight with God

Hold your relationship with God close.

[The Lord your God] will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing. – Zephaniah 3:17 ESV

There is an unusual but worthy story in Jeremiah 13. God told Jeremiah to buy a loincloth, which is the equivalent to modern-day underwear. God told him to put it on. Then God instructed him to go a long distance, over seven hundred miles roundtrip, to the Euphrates River and hide his loincloth in the crevice of a rock. Jeremiah did as God told him to do. Then, after many days, God told him to go back and get the loincloth. When he did, he found it ruined and completely useless.

God told Jeremiah that the useless loincloth was like the pride of the people of Judah and Jerusalem. They refused to listen to Him. They stubbornly followed their own hearts, went after idols and worshipped them. So, as a people of God, they were worthless.

Thankfully, our trust in Christ makes it possible for us to be close to God and powerfully used by Him.

God wants to be personally involved with you and all the details of your life.

God created you to cling to Him and to His Word. He is crazy about you! He wants a close and intimate relationship with you.

How tight are you with God? Do you tell him everything? He wants the details. And He wants to chat with you regularly, daily and even throughout your day.

Today’s One Thing
Have a good chat with God today. Tell Him what you are concerned about. Confess your doubt and fear. Read His Word and trust what He tells you about your situation.
