God’s Will is Definitely within Your Grasp 

What is God’s will for my life? You’ve asked yourself or the Lord that very question recently, or in the past or maybe even today. Perhaps it’s something that you’re pondering right now as you look to move forward in the new year. The fact that you have or are desiring His will is a very good sign because most Christians really don’t seek His will enough. We really don’t stop and ask the question, Is this God’s will for my life?

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

– James 1:22, 25 ESV

Some see God’s will as something mystical that’s somehow obscure or far away, too difficult to easily perceive to comprehend and to apply to our lives. But nothing could be further from the truth. God’s will for whatever it is you’re facing today, whatever decisions you are trying to make, is very much within your grasp.

God has a wonderful purpose for your life (Jeremiah 29:11). The challenge is to be able to tap into it and put it into motion.

Scripture tells us not to be hearers of the word only but doers of it as well. This process of living out our faith never ends until we die, and the choices that you will make are ultimately your own responsibility.

God’s will is very much within your grasp.

God’s will is not nebulous or vague. It is all revealed for you in His Word. To know and live in God’s will you must know and apply the Bible to every situation. To do that you’ve got to prioritize studying the Bible and prayer so you can understand what He is saying.

Refuse to sit on the sidelines, fearful to make decisions. Instead, search His will through His Word, through good counsel from others, through prayer and meditation and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. You can make decisions that could alter the course of your life in such a beautiful way that you can look back in six months or six years and say, “I have found God’s will. I have found His purpose.”

Examine where you are today and where you want to grow in your spiritual life. 

• How often do you actually read Scripture? 
• How often do you read scripture when it comes to things in your life that you need to make decisions?  
• Do you take time to regularly ask God for guidance and for Him to nurture your life and direct you?  
• Do you spend time communicating in prayer?  
• Do you wait upon the Holy Spirit in your life?
