Extraordinary Love

When you think of love, what comes to mind?

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful.
I Corinthians 13:4-5 ESV

The English language uses the word love for many meanings – from loving a person to loving a post on social media. It is challenging to find another word in English that describes the feeling of love.

In the Greek language, there are several forms of the word love found in the Bible. Here are a few:
• Storge – a love that comes naturally for family members.
• Philia – a love for a friend, bonding over similar interests.
• Agape – a love that is concerned with the greatest good of another.

God will love others through you as you trust in His unconditional love.

Your heavenly Father loves you with a love of action, a sacrificial love that is always concerned for your best. He gave His best for you, His Son, Jesus. He is patient, kind and forgiving. At any time, you can run into His loving arms and trust He will hold you tightly and lead you to the next best step you need to take.

And as you trust in God’s love, He enables you to love others with His love. This may mean forgiving someone who has hurt you. It may mean giving to someone who cannot give back. It may mean praying for and being patient with someone who is struggling in their journey. No matter what it is, God will lead and equip you, an ordinary person, to do the extraordinary for His glory.

Today’s One Thing
Ask God how He wants you to express His love to someone He has put on your mind and heart. Write down who He shows you, and take the next step in how you will carry it out.
