The Ultimate Life Jacket

If you have spent any time on the water kayaking, fishing or cruising, there is an important safety element in wearing a life jacket. Imagine if something were to go wrong while you were on the water, such as a sudden storm, boat malfunction or boat wreck. A life jacket can be the difference between floating safely or struggling to survive.

God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
– Romans 5:8 ESV

Christ is the supreme life jacket, and this verse speaks to the depth of His love. Despite your flaws, storms of life, malfunctions, wrecks or sins, Christ died for you, and God loves you. He sent His Son to die for you so you could be saved and reconciled to Him. This is the ultimate act of love, and it is something that you can always cling to when you feel lost, alone or overwhelmed.

Jesus is like a life jacket that you can put on when you feel like you are drowning. He is your rock, your fortress and your strength. When life’s waves are crashing around you, and you feel like you can’t keep your head above water, you can grab onto Him. He will never let you go. You don’t need to take Jesus off like a regular life jacket. He lives within you and wants you to thrive.

Jesus will never leave you, no matter life’s conditions.

He lives within you so you can live in a way that reflects His love and grace. You are called to be a light in the darkness, to share His message of hope with the world, colleagues and friends. You can do this by showing kindness, compassion and generosity to hurting people. You can be a listening ear, a helping hand and a source of encouragement to those sailing through storms.

You don’t have to be perfect to receive God’s protection, give a helping hand or say an encouraging word; you don’t have to have it all together. You must be willing to step out in faith and trust that God has equipped you for whatever lies ahead.

Today’s One Thing
So, if you feel overwhelmed by life’s storms, take heart. Jesus is your life jacket, rock and source of strength. Hold onto Him tightly and trust He will guide you through the rough waters. And remember, you are loved beyond measure, and He wants you to live above the storms of life.
