God’s Plan for Provision and Deliverance

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

─ Philippians 4:19

God’s chosen people, the Israelites, saw miracles of every kind. God provided for them in spite of their constant distractions and grumblings. When they called to Him, He answered and faithfully kept His promises.

God’s chosen generation crossed the Jordan River into the land of Canaan (Joshua 3). They had lived 40 years in the desert and were finally positioned to take the land God promised many years prior their father, Abraham.

But Jericho, a seemingly invincible walled city, stood between them and their promise (Joshua 6). God told Joshua to lead His people in a silent march around Jericho for six days, and on the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times and give a shout.

God’s plan would appear foolish to any warrior who had ever been to battle, yet Joshua led the people to do exactly as God had asked. When they obeyed the Lord with the final shout, the massive walls collapsed, and Israel easily took the city (Joshua 6:20).

The miraculous fall of the Wall of Jericho demonstrates God’s grace and salvation. The city of Jericho was vital to the plans God had for the Israelites. It was included in His promise for deliverance and provision.
