Living in the Land of Plenty

You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

─ Psalm 66:12

Our Heavenly Father desires for us to never lack any good thing, but to live an abundant life. He sent Jesus to Earth to make a way for us to experience the blessing of God. He is a generous giver who provides seed to the sower. He promises when we sow, we will reap an abundant harvest in due season (2 Corinthians 9:10-11).

It’s important that we approach giving (or sowing) with our hands open. We cannot give remorsefully as if what we’ve given is lost. Instead, we are to generously bless others with great cheer, trusting that God will bring our harvest of plenty to us because of all we’ve given.

Usually we think of giving from a financial perspective, but not all gifts are about money. We can give our time, our effort and our emotional energy. As we take time to help others in need, we can expect a return on those seeds sown as well.

God not only wants to provide for every need we have, but He desires to place us in a spacious place filled with plenty. We are blessed, so that we may testify of God’s generous provision and also so that we may bless others.
