Open, Open, Open

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

─ Romans 8:28

Samantha greeted her friend, Lyla, as the two stood waiting on the sidewalk for their daughters’ school to let out. “Brrr ….” Samantha said, hugging herself and stomping her feet to warm herself. “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this winter weather. How are you?”

“I’m okay. It’s been a tough day. I feel like I’m on an emotional roller coaster. Why can’t I just settle down and wait on God?” Lyla asked. Samantha nodded, encouraging her friend to continue. “I’m just so ready to see things change. I feel stuck. It’s like I’m standing in front of a retail store that hasn’t opened yet. I have my hands on the glass, saying, “Open! Open! Open! But I’m hours early, and no one will tell me what time the doors will open.”

Samantha smiled. “There was a commercial from the early ‘90’s like that, it was one of my mother’s favorites!” They both laughed.

“God knows my heart. He knows I don’t want to be patient. I don’t want to endure.” Lyla continued. “I want the difficulty to end and the new things to be revealed. I want to move forward. I don’t want to be stuck anymore.”

“It is really hard when the transition to the next season lags,” Samantha encouraged. “Deep down you know that all things work together for your good. I hope I can be a support and encouragement to you through this.”
