What Is Necessary to Finish Strong?

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.

─ Psalm 90:12

Watching someone we love breathe their last breath is a humbling and extremely emotional experience. There is a moment in time when every single one of us will breathe our last breath and slip into eternity.

If we really want to finish strong, we need to evaluate how life stacks up against all of the things we say we are, what we say we believe and what we feel is important. Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us, Lord, to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (NKJV). That verse is preceded by the writer talking about the fact that we serve a just God, a God who is not oblivious to how we live our lives.

The fact that we are believers should set us apart from the rest of the world. Giving up or just getting by is not what God intended for His children. Every person was created to live an abundant life and to finish strong no matter how many days they have.

Today’s One Thing

Take an honest inventory of how your life stacks up against all of the things you say you are, what you say you believe and all the things that you feel are important. Make a change this week that will help you finish strong in a particular area of your life.
