Gracious and Loving Father

They refused to obey and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.

Nehemiah 9:17

The sun began to slowly descend as Mandy glimpsed across the wedding venue – her wedding venue. It had been a perfect day. The lights on the outdoor dance floor added ambiance to the sunset sky. She breathed softly, taking it all in. Then she saw her mother dancing with her granddaddy and remembered those days when she was a little girl dancing with her own father, her tiny feet resting a top her daddy’s big work boots.

She felt a soft hand slip into her own, and she looked up into her sister Kaylynn’s face. “What are you thinking?” Kaylynn asked.

“Look at Mom and Pappy,” Mandy said. “I was just thinking about dancing with Daddy when we were little girls. Which then reminded me of how my life has been a dance with my Heavenly Father. No matter what age I am, I see myself as that little girl moving with Him.”

Repeatedly throughout the Bible, God tells story after story of His great, divine, everlasting kindness. As our gracious and loving Father, He knows the harmony we dance best to, and leads us through the moments of our lives.
