Stand Firm Just a Little Longer

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

─ Ephesians 6:13

“Hold on just a little longer,” Tanya said encouragingly over the phone to her sister, Kayla.

“I’m trying,” Kayla said, a little less confident sounding than she liked.

“I know this has been a really challenging time for you. You’ve had so many emotional ups and downs and I’m proud of you for standing firm in your faith. God is working, even though you can’t see it yet,” Tanya continued.

“When circumstances look favorable for my situation, I realize I can go just a little longer. Then when it doesn’t work out, I struggle not to become frustrated,” Kayla admitted. “I never dreamed this could drag on for months and months.”

“As I look back on our lives – our traumatic childhood – God always came through for us,” Tanya said softly. “I have to believe He’s got something we’ve not even imagined in the works for you on the other side of this.”

“You are right,” Kayla replied, sounding stronger. “I can do this because God never fails me. Thank you for being there when I called.”
