Carefully Crafted Words of Encouragement

My words declare the uprightness of my heart, and what my lips know they speak sincerely.

─ Job 33:3

It’s so important that we speak encouragement to each other. Negative words have a way of brewing under the surface of our lives, until eventually, if not dealt with, they come to the surface.

Most of us can remember something hurtful said to us by a classmate or a teacher that wounded us. Words – both encouraging and disappointing – have a way of just going deeper into the fabric of who we are as a person, especially if we are sensitive to that. Negative or positive, it can become something we carry with us for the rest of our lives. Words form pictures in our minds. If those words are about who we are, or who we might become, they can carry a big impact on us.

We need to craft our words carefully because our words matter. The words we say to those we love must be spoken with the greatest love, formulated to encourage and inspire us to become more and to do better.

Today’s One Thing

Strive to diligently craft your words with love and encouragement this week, especially with those you love most.
