Build Your Life on His Firm Foundation

But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”

─ 2 Timothy 2:19 ESV

“Are you going to be at the copier for very long?” Amber called to her colleague, Darla, as she walked down the hall toward her.

“Nope. I’m finished. Just kinda lost in my thoughts,” Darla replied. “Have at it.”

“Great, I’ve got to get the draft of the board report printed for a review this afternoon,” Amber explained. “Are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine. I’m just being prayerful about a situation at my son’s school. Since he moved to the high school this year, it seems girls are aggressively attracted to him, even older girls, and I’m a bit concerned.”

Darla smiled knowingly. “They’re attracted to the presence of God within your son – and he is a good-looking kid, don’t get me wrong.”

“You say that like it’s a good thing,” Darla said disparagingly.

“Your son knows the truth.” Amber replied. “He has a firm foundation. And he has a wise and praying mom.”

In today’s verse, we are promised God’s firm foundation stands. Jesus said, “Whoever comes to Me and hears and does what I say … is like a man who built a house. He dug deep to put the building on rock. When the water came up and the river beat against the house, the building could not be shaken because it was built on rock. But he who hears and does not do what I say, is like a man who built a house on nothing but earth. The water beat against the house. At once it fell and was destroyed” (Luke 6:47-49 NLV).
