Trust God through Change

And when they prevailed over them, the Hagrites and all who were with them were given into their hands, for they cried out to God in the battle, and he granted their urgent plea because they trusted in him.

─ 1 Chronicles 5:20 ESV

Sometimes the only thing constant in your life is change. One moment you feel you have a handle on your circumstances, and unexpectedly, the situation changes. You understand your family’s dynamics and then children move into the next phase of childhood and it’s all new ground. What once worked well, doesn’t work at all anymore.

In the midst of that nonstop change, you may need a reminder that it’s okay. It’s okay to hit the pause button and catch your breath, even though the rest of the world stays in constant motion. It’s okay that change keeps you out of your comfort zone. It’s okay that change causes you to dig deeper, love better, live stronger and search harder for answers you wouldn’t have known before.

It’s okay because God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He is faithful. You can always count on Him to keep you on steady ground even when the world is transitioning before your eyes.

Today’s One Thing

What is the biggest change in your life right now? Hit the pause button sometime today. Put your feet up; close your eyes and tell God how you are trusting Him through this change. Be specific. Be purposeful and be honest with yourself on what you are going through. With God’s help you can endure and persevere through it.
