He Holds You Up

If I say, “My foot has slipped,” Your compassion and lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up.

─ Psalm 94:18 AMP

Todd’s 13-year-old daughter, Peyton, had hiked on up the trail, and he realized she was out of sight. He called out to her, “Peyton, stop and wait for me.” And she did. Only minutes after they resumed their hike together, Peyton lost her balance and began to teeter toward the edge of the drop off. Todd was close enough to quickly reach out and pull her safely back into his arms.

“Dad, I’m sorry,” she gasped, “I was looking up at the trees, and.…”

“It’s okay; you’re safe. That’s why I called to you earlier. It’s important to stay close.”

The Psalmist shares how he found himself slipping, and the Lord, from the depths of mercy and grace, like any loving father, held him up (Psalm 94:18).

Your heavenly Father is always nearby, ready to hold you up and keep you from slipping. In His mercy and lovingkindness, He watches over you. He is always ready to hold you up, no matter what path you choose to take.
