The Lord is Your Guard

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.

“Mom, Danny doesn’t believe in angels,” Lauren said matter-of-factly.

“Oh,” Allyson replied, trying not to lead the conversation, but curious as to where the two eight-year-old cousins’ conversation had gone.

“He doesn’t believe that I have some. But I told him he was wrong. And that if he didn’t believe in his angels, then I’d take ‘em. Never hurts to have lots of angels watching over me, huh?”

Allyson nodded affirmatively, but her daughter had already disappeared. She thought about the reality of the spiritual war waging that often goes unnoticed by most of us. She remembered God’s promise to guard her against the evil one – she’d marked the passage in her Bible the night before in 2 Thessalonians 3:3.

She folded the last of the laundry and headed upstairs to pray. Her daughter’s words prompted her to remember how important it was for her to continually stand firm in faith, trusting that God would protect her and strengthen her, as well as her loved ones.

Paul encourages us to be ready for spiritual battle in Ephesians 6:10-19. Take time today and study this scripture. Ask God to reveal to you more about spiritual warfare.
