Call on His Divine Strength

He empowers the feeble and infuses the powerless with increasing strength. Even young people faint and get exhausted; athletic ones may stumble and fall. But those who wait for Yahweh’s grace will experience divine strength. They will rise up on soaring wings and fly like eagles, run their race without growing weary, and walk through life without giving up.

─ Isaiah 40:29-31 TPT

Tessa hadn’t had a true moment for herself in weeks. Grateful that God had orchestrated the whirlwind to move her from one job loss to a new position 200 miles away, she hadn’t stopped to catch her breath. It all had to be done. “Lord, give me strength,” she prayed each day as she pushed forward, putting her physical and emotional limits to the test.

She looked around the bedroom of her new home, after putting sheets on her bed and realized she had an hour to spare. She climbed into the shower washing away the wear and tear of the weeks behind her, and then slipped under the sheets and welcomed an extra, unexpected hour of sleep. The next morning, her strength renewed, she felt excited to start the new season God set before her.

Our verse today is filled with promise … God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even the strongest (emotionally, physically and spiritually) people in the world become fatigued sometimes, but His capacity and vitality never decrease. When you hope in the Lord, your strength is renewed.

When you feel all the weight of the world coming down on top of you and you feel like you have nothing left, you can call on God to renew your strength.

Today’s One Thing

In times of stress, do you push yourself. This week take some time away from the hurriedness of life to slow down. Schedule at least two breaks in the day to put your feet up and close your eyes. Also, take the extra time to do those things you know relax you so that you can get a good night’s sleep.
