Let Go of Worry

Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

─ Romans 8:33-34 NKJV

Annie leaned forward on the couch toward the television screen. Her brother, Mark noticed her anxiety increased as she watched a movie he knew she’d seen several times. She squinted her eyes almost closed, anticipating the scene.

“Why are you nervous about this scene?” he asked. “You’ve seen this movie before, and you know exactly what’s going to happen,” he teased.

As God’s children, that’s how it might seem sometimes for us. We know in the end we will reign with God victorious, but we still have moments when we worry about things, trying to anticipate and even control the outcomes for our own lives.

Romans 8:33-34 says, “If God says his chosen ones are acceptable to him, can anyone bring charges against them? Or can anyone condemn them? No indeed! Christ died and was raised to life, and now he is at God’s right side, speaking to him for us.”

If you’ve ever thought you aren’t good enough for God, think about this: He gave His one and only son for you. If you had been the only one in the whole world, you would have been worth the exchange. You matter to God. He would never withhold the gift of salvation from you. If Christ gave His life for you, He isn’t going to turn around and condemn you. You have no reason to worry about how it all ends. You can let go of worry and trust Him.
