Give Your All

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

─ Colossians 3:23-25 ESV

“Unbelievable!” Katy called over her shoulder to her husband Ken as she pulled the newly laid sod away from the house to reveal rock underneath. “No wonder this sod is dead!”

“Yes,” Ken replied. “Whomever laid this sod had to know the rock was there. They didn’t even care that we’d have to come back and repair it.”

“Some people don’t have the work ethic or the integrity in their business like they used to,” Katy mumbled.

Our verse today sets us apart when it comes to doing a good job. As Christ followers, the Lord desires for you to put your heart and soul, all that you are, into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord Himself, and not anyone else.

Since creation, God has given us work to do. It’s important to realize your work ethic reflects on who you are in Christ. It’s easy to have an attitude about your work when you put in long hours, or you find it dissatisfying, but you can experience joy when your work becomes worship to the Lord.
