Shine His Light

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

─ 2 Corinthians 4:6 ESV

How many times have you seemingly lost your keys, your glasses or something you use all the time, only to eventually discover it was right in front of you the entire time you looked for it?

The scenario is the same when it comes to the light of God’s truth and His gift of salvation. The gospel laid open and bare, becomes understandable to anyone who is willing to believe. Satan, the god of this world, embraces and celebrates his job description – to deceive and blind anyone who will listen to his lies (John 8:44).

Paul’s words from 2 Corinthians 4:6 is a promise to you as a child of God. The revelation of God’s glory is available to you. His truths of Scripture come alive in your heart like a light shining in the darkness. He illuminates your heart so that you know Him through His Word in a deeper way.

For that very reason, you are a light in this dark world. You have revelation knowledge of the hope Jesus Christ offers to every single person in this fallen world. Will you shine His light in the darkness? Will you point others to Him by the love and life He has given you?

Today’s One Thing

Pray for those who still live each day without God’s gospel light in their life today.

Heavenly Father, thank you for shining your light in the darkness of my own heart and for giving me the freedom to accept Jesus as my own Lord and Savior. I pray for every person I know, as well as those I don’t who need the saving light of your truth. Open their eyes to see your truth. Bring fellow believers across their paths to speak into their lives. Prick their hearts with your words. And give me courage to witness for you, as you give me the opportunity.
