4 Steps to Peace with Hope Darst

Hope Darst, Christian worship leader, musician and songwriter shared how she struggles with stress and perfectionism. “I thought if I’m doing it all really well that I won’t be stressed. And that is such a false way of thinking, because the reality is this life can be overwhelming.”

Hope takes these four steps to walk in the stress of life without being overwhelmed by it:

  1. Acknowledge the cause of the stress. Is it fear, insecurity or lack of trust?
  2. Believe the truth that human perfectionism is a lie.
  3. Surrender control to God.
  4. Seek God for clear priorities.

Your efforts do not have to be perfect to be purposeful and good.

As she battles the belief that all she does has to be done perfectly, Hope replaces that thought with the fact that God can fulfill His purposes through her imperfections. Her efforts do not have to be perfect to be purposeful and good.

Following God’s lead is the key to focusing on the priorities that matter most. Relying on Him and trusting His ways provides clarity as He works through you.
