4 Ways Jesus is Your Prince of Peace

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

─ Ephesians 4:1–3 ESV

4 Ways Jesus is Your Prince of Peace

The Hebrew word for peace is shalom. While it serves as a customary greeting of God’s people even today, the deeper, more foundational meaning of peace is the spiritual harmony experienced when you are restored in relationship to God.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Through your relationship with Jesus, surrendering your life to Him, He bridges the gap and unites you with:

  1. God, your Father (Philippians 4:7).
  2. The Holy Spirit, your advocate (John 14:26).
  3. All of the people with whom you do life (Ephesians 2:8).
  4. His peace that flows to you and through you bringing inner peace (Ephesians 2:14).

Our verse today answers the question why we need the peace Jesus brings. God desires for us to live with other believers with humility, gentleness and patience, “being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:1–3 ESV). This would be impossible in your own power, but through the work of the Holy Spirit in you and the peace you have with God thanks to the sacrifice of His Son, peace is attainable. It’s been freely gifted to you from Jesus!

Jesus, at work in your life – your Prince of Peace – restores shalom. He is willing and able to bring everything back to the way God desired it to be. This includes restored relationships with God and all humankind, a balanced life and assurance of your eternal home with Him.
