Activate God’s Word in Your Life

When you pray Scripture, you are speaking God’s Word back to Him. It brings your heart and mind into agreement with whatever He has said.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
─ John 15:7-8 NKJV

The words of Jesus in the verses above call you to live in Him and to let His words live in you. Through living our lives in obedience to His truth, we live in Him. That requires knowing what the Bible says. When you know His Word, you know Him.

Let Christ’s words live in you.

One way you can let His Word abide in you is to pray Scripture. It doesn’t have to be just the words of Jesus, but you can pray the Word of God in general.

God hears us when we ask according to His will (1 John 5:14). Many people pray the Lord’s prayer (Matthew 6:6-13). The Psalms are another place to find prayers to speak back to God. Such examples include:

  • Psalm 91, for safety and protection.
  • Psalm 23, to be led by God.
  • Psalm 63, to seek God.
  • Psalm 51, for forgiveness.

As you incorporate the Word of God into your life, your prayers become powerful because you are demonstrating that Jesus’ words are in you.

Today’s One Thing
Choose a Scripture to pray this week. Maybe one referenced above, or one God directs you to. Expect the Word of God to come alive in your life in a new way, as you pray Scripture.
