Allow God to Speak through Creation

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

─ Psalm 96:11-12 ESV

Susanne woke up early and hurried downstairs to catch the sunrise coming up over the mountains. She’d made it a point to greet God this way each morning during her week away from the city, visiting her aunt and uncle at their Colorado cabin. And she pushed herself to unplug from all devices and embrace God’s creation throughout the day.

The jaw-dropping beauty that surrounds us reminds us that God speaks to us through his masterpiece. Psalm 96:11-12 personifies creation, giving it life and voice to proclaim God’s majesty. From all places of the earth, God speaks to us.

While we are in the summer months, it’s a great time to embrace outdoor adventures. Intentionally giving yourself unplugged moments in nature truly revitalizes you and opens your eyes to see the fingerprints of God upon His creation. From miles of beachfront to the deep and majestic mountain tops. Creation lulls us to come and experience God’s presence and His peace.

Today’s One Thing

Set a date on your calendar to unplug. It doesn’t have to be a vacation, but just a time away from the noise. Give God the opportunity to speak to you through His creation this week.
