Always in His Sight

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper.

─ Psalm 121:1-5 ESV

Always in His Sight

Shannon stood on the steps of the front porch, blocking the way to the stairs as she carefully watched her seven month old grandson maneuver his stroller from one end to the other in the winter sunshine. It was a rare and beautifully warm day.

Like an infant or toddler is seldom outside the watchful view of a parent or caregiver, your heavenly Father watches over you.

In Psalm 121, the psalmist looked to the hills of Judah for encouragement. They reminded him of God’s care and protection. When he lifted his eyes to the hills, he saw beyond them to his keeper, the One who made the mountains (v. 2).

God is your keeper. He is always with you. You are always within his sight, even through your most difficult crisis.

Today’s One Thing

Read the personalized words from Psalm 121 below and encourage yourself with them as you read it aloud.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?

My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

He will not let my foot be moved; he who keeps me will not slumber.

Behold, he who keeps me will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is my keeper; the Lord is my shade on my right hand.

The sun shall not strike me by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep me from all evil; he will keep my life.

The Lord will keep my going out and my coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
