Be Real and Share Your Journey

Do you find it difficult to live an authentic life? Generally, people are not an open book, willing to share their story with everyone. Telling your story can mean reliving your shame, guilt and pain, or even admitting your life is not perfect or you don’t have it all together.

Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy.
─ Ephesians 4:23-24 CEV

You’ve probably experienced the pretense of someone living an amazing life, only to learn the ugly truth of a hidden struggle. In the church, the lack of authenticity can be perceived as hypocrisy and can push people away from God rather than pointing others to Him.

You can wear your brokenness in a way that glorifies God.

Paul calls us to stop pretending and instead let others see you for who you are. Paul’s words in the verse above encourage you to let the Holy Spirit change you from the inside out. Your authenticity compels you to take off your old life and embrace your renewed self.

As you embrace all that you’ve been through and openly share it with others, it brings glory to God. You can wear your brokenness in a way that glorifies God. Your story becomes all about His grace. It serves as an opportunity for others to come alongside you and encourage you as you continue through your journey. It also offers hope to those traveling a similar journey.

Today’s One Thing
Ask God how you can become more authentic in your walk with Him. Become willing to share your journey with those He leads you to connect with. See how God might use your story for His glory and the benefit of others.
