Consider Just How Valuable You Are

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

─ Matthew 10:29-31 ESV

Consider Just How Valuable You Are

Now more than ever, people are outspoken about how they think and feel about everything. Many share their opinions freely, often without concern about how it makes others look, think or feel. That includes the labels they place on people, whether they know them personally or not. Reputations can be gained or lost on social platforms in a matter of seconds.

Does it matter to you what others think about you? And do you allow those opinions to influence the value you have for yourself?

While most of us would like to be valued by others, God’s thoughts toward you are the only ones that count. And the Bible is clear on just how much He loves you and values you. Jesus said, in our verse today, two sparrows are worth a penny, and the Father knows when one of them falls to the ground. He knows all about you; even how many hairs are on your head. With that in mind, consider how much more you are worth to Him than two little birds.

Today’s One Thing

One way to appreciate the value God places on you is to refuse to speak negatively or hold yourself to unrealistic expectations. Today, when you’re tempted to criticize yourself, say this aloud: “God loves me and values me greatly. I am His child and worthy of His love.”
